Portrait of Sufi Master Shaykha Fariha al Jerrahi
Sufi Master Shaykha Fariha al Jerrahi
I like to shoot people candidly in their favorite environments or with their favorite people. This is when they are most comfortable. This portrait is of Shaykha Fariha al Jerrahi, a rare female Sufi master, was done during a Ramadan celebration and shows her surrounded by Whirling Dervishes. It was particularly challenging because none of the other participants wished to be shown. the images has been used is college classes and to advertise classes at East/West books in NYC. See more.
Steve Madden Holiday Party Photos
Steve Madden Holiday Party 2006

This kind of event is a photographer’s biggest challenge. Busy celebrities, a variety of lighting conditions, subjects in motion and a nearly pitch black dance floor. The client seemed happy with the results.
“OH MY GOD, you are fabulous!!!!!!!!” says Madden’s wife.

See the Party or See the Magic – find out how the photo of Wendy Madden on the left and the one of Steve looking off camera in the middle were combined into the perfect shot on the right.
